Chace Lets It Burn Slow on "Up in Flames"

Chinese singer, songwriter, and producer Chace is back with a haunting new single, “Up in Flames”—a slow-burning synth-pop track that finds its power in restraint. Released June 18 via Lucky Kid Syndrome/BMG, the song continues to build on Chace’s growing catalog of emotionally rich, genre-blending work.

At its core, “Up in Flames” is a meditation on transformation—on what it means to feel something so deeply that it scorches your sense of self. But instead of leaning into explosive sonics, Chace delivers something far more delicate: a silky, ‘80s-inspired production full of soft synths, gentle percussion, and ambient textures that feel like they’re echoing from the inside of a dream. It’s the kind of track that floats more than it drives, giving its emotion time to settle.

Vocally, Chace stays intimate and grounded. His delivery is warm and steady, gliding over the production with a tone that’s more confessional than performative. It’s the sound of someone letting go—of control, of expectation, maybe even of a version of themselves. The lyrics paint a picture of emotional ignition: “Sparkles shine through your eyes / passion lights up the night.” There’s something cinematic in the way it all unravels, like a slow-motion memory wrapped in neon haze.

The accompanying live performance video strips things back even further. No flashy effects. No pyrotechnics. Just Chace, a mic, and the weight of the moment. The minimal setting reinforces the song’s emotional clarity, showcasing his ability to command attention without spectacle.

“Up in Flames” follows his recent string of releases this year, including “Keep Me Warm” and Anti-People Pleaser, Pt. 1—each revealing new layers to his evolving sound. While earlier tracks leaned more dance-forward, this latest single proves that Chace knows how to hold back—and in doing so, say even more.

If Anti-People Pleaser was about defiance, “Up in Flames” feels like surrender. And somehow, that vulnerability burns even brighter.
