Silent Hill f Gets an Official Release Date and Chilling New Trailer
Konami has dropped their release date trailer for Silent Hill f—the first mainline entry in over a decade—during a recent State of Play and Silent Hill Transmission livestream. Launching on September 25, 2025, the game is slated to arrive across major platforms like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
For the first time, the franchise leaves its small American town roots and shifts to 1960s Japan, in the fictional mountain community of Ebisugaoka. The trailer introduces us to Hinako Shimizu, a high school student caught off-guard when a dense, unnatural fog rolls in and the once-idyllic town becomes twisted and silent. The visual direction emphasizes the contrast of familiar everyday settings—a school, shrine, rice paddy—against spine-tingling horror imagery like red-flower infestations and mutated creatures lurking around every corner.
The title’s creative credentials are also strong. Silent Hill f is written by Ryukishi07, creator of Higurashi When They Cry, while horror veteran Akira Yamaoka returns on music, supported by Kensuke Inage. Konami’s Motoi Okamoto, also behind the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake, is serving as a producer, and character/monster designer kera crafts the grotesque visuals.
Gameplay glimpses hint at a meld of melee combat, puzzle-solving, and psychological exploration, with Hinako clinging to survival using a pipe or spear. Konami has labeled Silent Hill f a standalone spinoff—not requiring prior knowledge—yet easter eggs for long-time fans are expected (naturally).
With its bold shift to a culturally specific setting, a well-regarded development team, and a haunting fusion of beauty and fear, Silent Hill f looks to redefine the franchise for a new era. Horror fans have a potent mix to anticipate when the game debuts next fall.
