IllFonic and Gun Media Reveal New Halloween Video Game Slated for 2026

At Gamescom 2025, fans of the slasher genre were treated to a major reveal: an immersive game adaptation of Halloween is officially on the way.

Developed by IllFonic, the studio behind Friday the 13th: The Game, and published by Gun Interactive of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the project promises to bring Michael Myers back to life in terrifying new ways when it arrives in 2026.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Halloween will feature two core modes. For those who prefer a solo experience, a single-player story mode will allow fans to face Michael Myers offline against AI. Meanwhile, the heart of the project lies in its 1v4 online asymmetrical multiplayer mode, where one player stalks as Myers while four others step into the roles of Haddonfield civilians fighting to survive.

Survivors won’t just be running blindly. They’ll need to use stealth and strategy to evade Michael, warning townsfolk and finding ways to reach the authorities before he cuts off their lifelines. Unlike other horror games, the addition of NPC residents also adds a new layer of unpredictability—turning the small-town backdrop of Haddonfield into a dynamic battlefield between killer and community.

The developers are working to ensure the game feels true to John Carpenter’s 1978 classic. Maps will draw directly from iconic locations, and the lighting and sound design are being built to capture the unmistakable tension of the original film. The score will echo Carpenter’s chilling music, and the overall presentation is designed to feel as cinematic as possible—immersing players in the feeling of being trapped in a horror movie.

For those stepping into Michael’s shoes, gameplay is all about patience, power, and control. Myers will be able to stalk, sabotage communication lines, and unleash sudden bursts of violence to keep survivors on edge. Each match promises to play differently, with the cat-and-mouse tension ramping up as the night wears on.

Launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Halloween marks a new era for horror fans. Whether creeping alone through the story mode or testing your nerves in the 1v4 multiplayer, it’s a chance to relive one of cinema’s most iconic nightmares. In 2026, the streets of Haddonfield will once again belong to Michael Myers.
