First Trailer for the Twisted Romantic Comedy Oh, Hi! Arrives via Sony Pictures Classics
The first trailer for Oh, Hi!, a darkly comedic spin on modern romance, has officially dropped—teasing a chaotic weekend getaway full of love, lies, and a little light kidnapping. Directed and co-written by Sophie Brooks, the film stars Molly Gordon (The Bear, Theater Camp) and Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Bullet Train) as two young people whose new relationship takes a seriously unhinged turn.
The story follows Iris (Gordon), a hopeless romantic who’s all-in on her new relationship with Isaac (Lerman). So when she senses that Isaac might be pulling away during a couples’ retreat, she does what any lovestruck person would do... if they had absolutely no chill. She ties him to the bed. What starts as an awkward confrontation about feelings quickly spirals into a full-blown weekend hostage situation—with a comedic edge.
Things get even messier when Iris calls in backup: her best friend Max, played by Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers, Miracle Workers), arrives to help keep things from falling apart. Naturally, Max brings along her own baggage—and boyfriend Kenny (John Reynolds)—making the entire situation even more ridiculous. The cast is rounded out by David Cross, whose dry humor adds to the absurdity.
The trailer sets the tone perfectly, blending sharp comedy with tense romantic standoffs and cringey moments that feel ripped from a dating app horror story. It’s part Misery, part Palm Springs, and totally 2025 in its take on love, obsession, and the fine line between commitment and control.
Oh, Hi! had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year and is set to screen next at the Tribeca Festival on June 13 and 14. The film is produced by QWGmire, Watermark Media, and Cliffbrook Films.
Sony Pictures Classics will release Oh, Hi! in select theaters beginning July 25, 2025.
