The Story

Set at the newly renovated Cold River Motel, the site of a notorious 1980s Satanic mass murder, Hell Motel follows ten true crime obsessives invited for its opening weekend. The trailer reveals a masked killer stalking the stranded guests, with each death escalating in brutality—think blood-soaked rooms, lots of screaming, and the enthusiast experiencing hands-on immersion. History clearly repeats itself as the kills aim to surpass the original massacre’s horror, reflecting the creators’ exploration of horror fandom’s allure. The trailer’s eerie score and quick-cut visuals amplify the dread, hinting at a meta-commentary on true crime culture.

The Cast

Eric McCormack leads as Hemmingway, a sinister chef, joined by Paula Brancati as Paige, a faded scream queen; Shaun Benson as Crow, a medium tied to the victims; Atticus Mitchell as Blake, a true crime writer; Emmanuel Kabongo as Kawayan, a murder-obsessed artist; Jim Watson as Andy, a true crime academic; and Genevieve DeGraves as Adriana, a flight attendant with a serial killer fixation. Canadian drag star Icesis Couture guests as Magenta, a stylish real estate agent, with Brynn Godenir and Michelle Nolden as the motel’s new owners, Ruby and Portia.

Directed by Adam MacDonald, the series features executive producers Martin, Carpenter, Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, and Thomas P. Vitale. Hell Motel also arrives during Shudder’s 10th-anniversary celebration, promising a bold addition to its horror slate. Will you be checking into Hell Motel?
