Suki Waterhouse Explores Romantic Fixation with Her New Single "On This Love"

Suki Waterhouse has unveiled her latest single, “On This Love,” a lush, introspective somber-pop track that delves into the complexities of a forbidden romance.

The song, released via Sub Pop, follows her acclaimed 2024 sophomore album, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin, and her March 2025 single, “Dream Woman.” Waterhouse describes the track as an “ode to romantic fixation,” a sentiment that resonates through its dreamy melodies and provocative lyrics. Written and composed by Waterhouse alongside EJ Saftner, Alexis Kesselman, and Clare Maguire, with production by Two Feet, “On This Love” took two years to complete. Waterhouse shared that the song has been a constant companion through significant moments in her life, embodying a character who is both a dreamer and a yearner. The mid-tempo track opens with confronting lyrics: “I ask you a question, ‘You still seeing her?’ / You pull me so hard, you say it’s over,” before likening the addictive relationship to a euphoric high in the chorus: “Just like a drug / I can OD on this love.”

Accompanying the single is a cinematic music video that blends sincerity with satire, set in a stylized Bel-Air mansion. Directed by Waterhouse’s sister, Imogen “Immy” Waterhouse, the video explores a provocative age-gap relationship marked by charm and isolation. The camp aesthetic specifically nods to early 2000s VH1 and classic ’90s television dramas, with Suki channeling an Anna Nicole Smith-esque persona as she navigates a world of luxury and longing.

The release comes amid a busy period for Waterhouse, who is preparing for her “European Sparklemuffin Tour” this summer, with stops including London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town and Reading and Leeds Festival in August. The single’s release has sparked speculation about a potential follow-up album, given her recent string of non-album tracks like “Pushing Daisies” and “Dream Woman” paving the way for more.
