Focus Features Drops the Trailer for the Dark Comedy Honey Dont'!
The first trailer for Honey Don’t!, directed by Ethan Coen, has just dropped, offering a tantalizing glimpse into a dark comedy that’s equal parts quirky and thrilling. Set to hit theaters on August 22, 2025, this film marks the second installment in Coen’s “lesbian B-movie trilogy,” following 2024’s Drive-Away Dolls.
The trailer introduces Honey O’Donahue (Margaret Qualley), a suave private investigator in Bakersfield, California, who’s digging into a series of bizarre deaths linked to a mysterious church. Qualley, reuniting with Coen after Drive-Away Dolls, brings a smooth, Humphrey Bogart-esque charm to the role, tempered with a sharp edge. The trailer teases plenty of Coen’s hallmark violence paired with the campy, pulpy vibe that made Drive-Away Dolls so distinctive.
Joining Qualley are Aubrey Plaza as a cop (and ally to Honey), and Chris Evans as a charismatic cult leader with a few of his own deadly kinks. The ensemble is rounded out by Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, and others, promising a chaotic mix of established personalities.
Filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, (which wrapped in May 2024), Honey Don’t! is produced by Focus Features alongside Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and others. And, from the trailer’s retro visuals, snappy dialogue, and blood-soaked chaos, it looks like Coen is doubling down on the gonzo energy of his solo work.
