Everything We Know About the Upcoming NEON film Keeper
Keeper, directed by Osgood Perkins—whose previous genre efforts include Longlegs (2024) and The Monkey (2025)—recently unveiled a haunting teaser trailer. Now, we’re going over everything we know (so far).
The Story
The film sets a romantic anniversary getaway into terrifying motion when the couple retreat to an isolated cabin, only for the space to reveal deeply unsettling forces from the location’s haunted history. This psychological horror, branded as a “dark trip,” is firmly rooted in supernatural tension rather than typical jump scares.
Teaser Trailer and Marketing Mystique
The teaser trailer leans deeply into atmosphere, rather than plot. Viewers are greeted with eerie visions of women across eras, staring, screaming, and drenched in blood. The cryptic tone and score echo the unsettling marketing strategy already used in Perkins’ and NEON’s previous films (especially Longlegs). And we even get some fun POV switching to keep the film’s layers even more mysterious.
Cast, Crew, and Production Details
Tatiana Maslany plays Liz, while Rossif Sutherland plays Malcolm. The screenplay was written by Nick Lepard, with production handled by Chris Ferguson and Jesse Savath for Oddfellows, in collaboration with NEON, which distributes the film worldwide. Jeremy Cox is behind the cinematography, and Edo Van Breemen composes the musical score. The film wrapped production as early as July 2024, following initial announcements at the 2024 Cannes Film Market.
A Confined Setting With a Broader Theme
Despite speculation about expansive or multi-era narratives, Perkins clarified at San Diego Comic-Con that Keeper remains confined to its single setting—a cabin. The teaser’s glimpses of women spanning different time periods aren’t plot indicators, but rather thematic flourishes, representing how relationships—and the psychological weight they carry—persist across generations. Perkins describes the film as "a horror movie about a relationship," and notes it was made on a modest budget of under $1 million. Maslany also emphasized how this is very much an "adult" exploration of romantic dynamics, rather than genre convention.
Release Date and Trailer
Keeper is scheduled for theatrical release on November 14, 2025. Originally slotted for early October, NEON officially shifted the release to November. It joins a strong fall slate of NEON films that includes titles like Sentimental Value and The Secret Agent.
