Ranking the Members of MomTok in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2

The second season of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which premiered on May 15, 2025, brought back the drama of Utah’s MomTok influencers, navigating faith, fame, and fractured friendships. With 10 episodes of scandal and shifting alliances, the cast—Taylor Frankie Paul, Whitney Leavitt, Jen Affleck, Demi Engemann, Jessi Ngatikaura, Mikayla Matthews, Mayci Neeley, Layla Taylor, and newcomer Miranda McWhorter—delivered a messy, addictive follow-up that deserves to be seen.

Now that we’ve binged the entire season, here’s our current ranking of the current cast based on their entertainment value, group dynamics, and their impact on the season’s overall narrative. Let’s get into it.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2 on Hulu

9. Mikayla Matthews

Mikayla leans into a mean-girl persona this season, but it’s more grating than gripping. Her nuance-free jabs (like, every single one) feel largely unnecessarily nasty rather than witty. Despite sharing vulnerable moments, like her childhood and chronic struggles, her cattiness overshadows any capacity she has for depth. From a viewer’s perspective, Mikayla’s not very fun, not very kind, and somehow still fails to embrace a multi-faceted villain role, making her presence feel like a buzzkill. Essentially, she’s giving Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion mom-clique energy, and that’s never ideal.

8. Jessi Ngatikaura

Jessi appears to thrive on stirring the pot but she also knows how craft a facade of good intentions. And even while briefly teased, Jessi’s feud with Demi, her former bestie, over Vanderpump Villa rumors (including an alleged fling with a cast member), many believe that she revealed a knack for dodging accountability. Overall, her “throw a rock and hide your hand” approach—setting up fights then playing peacemaker—feels disingenuous and often frustrates viewers in Season 2.

7. Layla Taylor

Layla, the youngest MomToker, brings single-mom energy but lacks a cohesive storyline. Her flip-flopping allegiances, cozying up to whoever’s in the room, make her seem surface-level and inconsistent as a friend. Respectfully, Layla’s narrative feels a little stale in comparison to what the other women offer, but at least she’s tapping into some surface-level messiness from time to time.

6. Demi Engemann

Demi emerges as Season 2’s polarizing villain, and she plays it with gusto. Her actions—like sending Jen a cease-and-desist over Italy rumors or clashing with Jessi—aren’t very defensible to most viewers, but her unfiltered approach and willingness to make amends with former foes like Whitney makes her great for the longevity of the series. Unlike our least favorite on the cast, Demi’s villainy generally translates for TV, balancing brazen moves with occasionally clever quips. She’s currently not likely to win a popularity contest, but she’s a necessary spark in MomTok’s volatile mix.

5. Mayci Neeley

In terms of the show, Mayci seems to serve as MomTok’s anchor, striving to keep the group grounded amid chaos. However, her co-signing Mikayla this season kind of shakes viewer’s trust from time to time. Mayci’s book deal and business ventures, like her Baby Mama nutrition company, do show career-focused ambition, but her tendency to offer commentary, as opposed to taking a clear stance—unlike Taylor or Whitney—makes her feel like a supporting player. She’s steady but not at her best, holding the middle ground without stealing the spotlight.

4. Miranda McWhorter

Newcomer Miranda, tied to the original soft-swinging scandal, brings a fresh dynamic despite her initial shyness. Her slow integration into MomTok, coupled with her willingness to address her past with Taylor and ex-husband Chase, adds new intrigue to a cast of all returning players. Miranda’s reserved demeanor also contrasts with the group’s loud personalities, making her ambiguous qualities a fun asset. Her presence also feels fair—she was part of the scandal that birthed the show, so why shouldn’t she share the stage? And as she opens up, Miranda is slowly showing that she’s a necessary addition.

3. Jen Affleck

Jen endures a brutal season, navigating a separation from husband Zac and an unexpected pregnancy that breaks Mormon hyper-natalist norms. And quite honestly, this is truly some of the most vulnerable moments of the series, outside of its initial soft-swinging scandal coverage. That, paired with Jen’s perfect-for-TV quips, like questioning Demi’s Italy antics, or professionally handling Jessi at a sit-down, make her an iconic member of MomTok. And despite a few trust issues from her castmates (her Ben Affleck cousin claim is now debunked), Jen’s openness about her struggles and resilience make her indispensable to the series.

2. Whitney Leavitt

This time around, Whitney, dubbed Season 1’s “villain”, stages a comeback that’s entirely triumphant. After leaving MomTok in a hilariously over-dramatic fashion, she humbles herself to return. However, she still delivers a few entertaining confrontations that break the fourth wall—and shows up to support Jen during her own personal crisis. Her redemption arc, marked by giving birth to son Billy and navigating group tensions, is also compelling for viewers, though a few villainous hints resurface in the finale when she begins to (unfortunately) turn on Taylor. Still, Whitney’s sharp commentary and strategic alliances, like cozying up to Miranda, show her reality TV savvy. Now let’s just get Taylor and Whitney on the same page.

1. Taylor Frankie Paul

Taylor remains the heart and soul of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. As the catalyst of the soft-swinging scandal, she’s since moved on to being unapologetically open about her rocky relationship with Dakota Mortensen, confronting things head-on. Taylor’s defiance against her own family, her grounded personality despite fame, and even her fearless stance in group drama—like the CMA post fallout—cement her star power. She’s relatable, messy, and entirely magnetic, carrying MomTok’s narrative with authenticity and heart. By the end of Season 2, Taylor proves why she’s the pioneer of this chaotic, captivating world.
