Alien: Earth First Look Teases a Promising Blend of Sci-Fi and Horror

The Alien franchise is set to make a chilling return with its first television series, Alien: Earth, premiering August 12, 2025, on FX and Hulu—and the trailer is finally here.

Alien: Earth (2025): FX / Hulu

The recently released trailer introduces viewers to a world where five powerful corporations dominate society, and advanced technology has enabled the creation of hybrids—humanoid robots infused with human consciousness. Central to the story is Wendy, portrayed by Sydney Chandler, a dying girl whose mind is transferred into a synthetic body (and the first transfer ever). The footage then teases Wendy leading a team investigating a crashed spaceship that unleashes five alien species, including the iconic Xenomorphs. Obviously, chaos ensues—and everything from cinematography to creature additions ensures us that the series is looking to break new ground.

Created by Noah Hawley and executive produced by Ridley Scott, this prequel series is set in 2120, two years before the events of the original 1979 Alien film with a cast that includes Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh, Wendy's synthetic mentor; Alex Lawther; Essie Davis; Samuel Blenkin; Diêm Camille; and Moe Bar-El.

Alien: Earth will consist of eight episodes, with the first two premiering on August 12, followed by weekly releases every Tuesday through September 23.
